Tanner vs The Ocean

I took this video with my phone at our family reunion last summer in California. I don't know what happened to the audio, which is a bummer. I also don't know why I haven't posted it until now. Tanner and I were just walking out on the beach, waiting for the waves to come in and get our feet a little wet. We got an unexpected surprise though.

Mom's big win!!!!

For those of you who don't know, Mom won a year supply of cupcakes from an AWESOME local bakery! It's the coolest thing that's ever happened to me, and it didn't even happen to me! I'm so, so excited for her! Anyways...today the kids and I forced her to go get it signed up and started. It was quite the exciting day!

The bakery is called "the sweet tooth fairy" and has a page on facebook and a webpage, www.thesweettoothfairy.com (find the link on the left) and they should have Mom's picture up there in the next few days.

There is even an airplane circling the globe that you can link-up with and that will give you immediate readings that you can enter on your tax forms based on the sample data you provide. You can get this at your local WalMart store and comes with a rebate of $0.05.

Well, Dad's dreams are officially messing me up!I was up all night because I had a dream that I was in Mario world and I was trying to rescue Dad off of a small little brick that he was standing on while holding a killer mushroom. I don't think I ever saved him. Sorry, Pops. I still love you! Sarah

Mini-Dreams

Not much to report on the dream-scene. Rather than a full-feature viewing, maybe these were previews or trailers of things to come. Trailer (1) - Steven kept asking why an old-time steam locomotive kept going up and down our street; and Trailer (2) I was following a small stake truck down the highway and the driver decided he was going too slow so to lighten his load he got out (while continuing down the road?) and hack-sawed the truck in half. But due to my excellent driving skills I was able to avoid hitting the detached part as it flew by.

January 12 - Two Act Dream

Act I

There is a reason I have never watched “Snakes on a plane” before. It just doesn’t sound right to call it entertainment when you are menaced by snakes and you can’t get away from them. Let me tell you it is even worse in real (dream-land) life. We were on our way to a motorcycle competition, presumably to Hawaii where Elaine’s good friend Nancy lives. However, when we got there, there was a blinding blizzard and we were met by a woman name “June” – so who knows where we ended up. Anyway, while on the plane I got bit by a giant snake – huge fangs – on the inner top of my thigh. It was not poisonous nor did it hurt, it was just annoying. We must have been traveling in December (blinding storm?) because it was my birthday and when we arrived at June’s house my present - a sawhorse – was left out in the blizzard. The poor thing was cold and covered in snow so I tired to pull it under the eves of the house for some protection.

The next day I was off to the motorcycle rally and competition. It was not at a large event center but rather at the cultural hall in the church. It was pretty crowded with all the participants and the spectators were circled around the edges sitting on folding chairs – sort of like the old youth dances. It wasn’t very exciting because the goal was to ride around the “course” with washcloths and towels stacked on each cycle’s gas tank until all had fallen off. The one with at least one remaining was the winner.

I wasn’t able to stay for the whole exciting competition because my snake bite had started to fester. You could see it start to “bubble up” through the two holes in my Levis left by the fangs. I went out to the car which looked a lot like my old 1984 Lincoln and started for June’s house. It wasn’t running very good and kept stalling. In order to get it re-started, I had to plug a toaster in to the cigarette lighter and push the handle down each time.

I finally got to June’s house and decided to take a shower. Of course there were no towels because they were all at the motorcycle event.

Act II

We decided to host a technician’s rally with the local car repair shop and recruit young mechanics to see who could fix the Lincoln the fastest and the best. We went over to the Village Inn and told businesses to come by and give us stuff as prizes for the winning fix to the car problem. We got some gift cards, jewelry, calendars, posters, pots and pans, and a menu. I am not sure if we were ever able to pull it off because it was also to be at the church and you know how scheduling conflicts go.
